Here is a tip for soldering chain or small elements from @pickleypear “When I have something small to solder that is an addition to a larger piece or have to solder chains, I like to use a compressed charcoal block as a heat sink. The block works wonderfully to slow/stop the heat from transferring to the rest of the piece while also reflecting the heat back onto the part I am working on. To get the charcoal block smooth so I have flat surfaces to work with, I simply rub two blocks together and it sands off the loose charcoal and flux fluff/granules.” I feel like this tip had a bonus tip in it, no? 🤣 Thank you SO much for sharing this with us!!! 😘😘 I hope this helps some folks next time they have to solder a jump ring to a small chain 🙌 #metalsmithsociety #tipoftheday #jewelrymakingtipoftheday
