Stamping a Hallmark Inside a Bezel Without Bending It

Here is one solution for stamping your hallmark or metal type on your piece without bending it from @morrisonmaestudio -“I try to stamp before I put the bezel on the backplate. But that isn’t always possible. More often I will find a dapping punch that fits inside the bezel, wrap it with leather to protect it and place it upside down in a vise. Then place the piece on top of it and the base of the punch acts like a mini steel block so I can stamp.” I love this solution! Thank you so much for sharing (and to others who mentioned similar techniques 🙏🏻😘) Side note, people ask me sometimes whether you can use a bent shank stamp on flat pieces (Like Molly has to demonstrate her tip in this photo) for years I only had a bent shank one, I find it’s a little harder to get a deep impression on a flat surface and it’s awkward to use but I made it work in a pinch 😄 we are still looking for solutions to stamp tiny things, curved things, all the things!! 😘 Happy Monday #jewelrycommunity #benchjeweler #jewelrytipoftheday
