Wear a mask 😷 Dust collection is ideal as well! In this video I’m taking a flat file with a “safe” edge and making it a little safer by smoothing and sanding a little bit of the cutting tooth edge that was protruding. It’s a good reminder that sometimes our tools need a little TLC to function at their best ☺️
You can use diamond abrasives and wheels on your file and sanding sticks. Just remember that those items will be contaminated with tiny bits of steel.
I used a magnet to collect the steel bits and then a demagnetizer to make sure my file wasn’t magneticly charged because then it will continue to pick up any steel dust. However I plan to clean my bench thoroughly.
