Here is a tip for creating even lines from @solidtreasures - “If you need a grid to work on for measuring our your work, creating even lines with metal calipers is easy.

Open your calipers to the desired size, use a flat side of the sheet metal for support, and run your calipers down the side. Make the next grid lines by opening your calipers wider to the next desired size (add the first measurement × 2), and repeating the process. The next measurement would be multiplied by 3 and so forth until you have your grid.” Kendria is a Black jeweler and member of this community.
