Padding Parallel Pliers With Sunshine Cloth

A tip from @emballistic for wrapping parallel plier jaws in Sunshine cloth strips held with dental bands to grip heavy wire without marks.

Here is a plier modification from @emballistic - “In an attempt to protect some large gauge wire I’ve been working on, I cut some strips of an old sunshine cloth and wrapped them around my parallel pliers. I added some dental rubber bands (which I snagged for your split mandrel tip not long ago) and they work wonderfully! I used a satin finish sunshine cloth as it adds a bit of grip, but I’ve also tried it with the original kind. Works like a dream! I thought others might find this useful - I find with vinyl/plastic tipped pliers I don’t get the secure grip that I need. This splits the difference!” Thank you SO much for taking the time to share this with us! I’ll have to give this a try! #metalsmithsocietyshare #pliers #jewelrypliers
