#sponsored For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I am very excited to show off these Swanstrom Hole Punch Pliers available exclusively from our friends @riogrande. These pliers are made of forged high-carbon, high-chrome alloy steel for exceptional strength and durability. They won’t wear out on you, and this pair punches a .055" (1.25mm) hole in up to 18 gauge metal (Item #: 111785) They also have 2.5mm, 3.5mm and 4.5mm available at Rio Grande! Hole-punching pliers are for sure a specialty plier but can be a huge time saver! I found them easy on my hands too, you don’t need much pressure. Just use a little lubricant (like Bur-Life) and line up your piece where you want to punch it and give it a gentle squeeze. A little tip: you can always draw a dot with Sharpie where you plan to punch your hole to avoid punching the wrong spot :) You may have to wiggle your piece slightly to remove from the pliers once your hole is cut, especially if you are punching a hole on a small or particularly thick piece of metal. For those that don’t have a flex shaft and still need to drill, or for those pieces where you just need a quick hole and don’t want to risk your drill bit bouncing around I think this is a nice alternative! Rio Grande is giving our community code MTLSMTH7 to get these (item #. 111785) for $35.75 (normally $41.25) :) now through 12.31.21 thanks Rio, and thanks for tuning in! #holepunchpliers #riojeweler #jewelrymakingtools
