Star Setting with a Pneumatic Engraver

A tip from @gerardi_setting_school on star setting with a pneumatic burin, cutting triangular prongs and locking the stone with a beading tool.

Todayโ€™s video is from @gerardi_setting_school showing an engraving technique. - โ€œThis technique is a traditional setting technique, revisited with the pneumatic burin, I used a carbide ongellette n.4,

to a neophyte i suggest to draw a cross, pierce the centre of the cross and then make the triangular prongs

after which you can draw another cross that divides the star created by the prongs into four parts and make the other four points with a clean cut that points towards the centre of the hole

Finally, place the stone and lock it in place directly by dividing the prongs with the beading tool.

And the setting is ready.

๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿปโ€ As someone learning engraving I absolutely love this process video. Thank you for letting me share. For anyone interested in engraving, you can learn too! It just takes classes, practice and patience. ๐Ÿ˜„ #engraving #stonesetting #pneumaticengraving #stonesetting #starsetting
