Polishing a Hammer-Set Bezel 🔨💎
One of my favorite things to make is a thick bezel, and hammer setting is the way to go when you’re working with heavier bezels or harder metals like 14k gold. Hammer setting locks that stone in tight, but the real magic happens in cleanup. I always polish afterward with a variety of silicone and pumice bits—and having that extra bezel thickness means I can remove and refine without worrying about thinning it out.
👉 In this video I’m using a Foredom dressing stone to reshape my polishing bits. It’s an inexpensive tool that every jeweler should have on their bench because it lets you modify your wheels safely. Without shaping them, you risk hitting the stone (and let’s be real—“stone safe” isn’t always actually safe).
