Today I’m showing a tube bezel setting tool, which is one of those super specific bench tools that can be really helpful in the right situation.

You can absolutely set a tube setting with a burnisher or bezel pusher, but this tool is designed to apply even, consistent pressure around the bezel. That can make the process faster, easier on your hands, and leave you with way less cleanup afterward.

I used one of these at my first production jewelry bench job, and they can be especially helpful if you’re setting a bunch of tube settings, working with settings that are close together, or you want something that requires less grip strength than pushing the metal over by hand.

A few things to know:

Halstead carries them in sizes 2mm to 6mm
They work best with calibrated round faceted stones
Your setting still needs to be prepped correctly
There is a learning curve
You want to come down straight and perpendicular so you don’t smush or distort your bezel
I always recommend using magnification so you can really see what you’re doing

This tool won’t replace good setting skills, but it can make tube setting feel more efficient, consistent, and easier on your hands.
