Tricky soldering setups? Total game changer with this clay. You can mold it however you need, it stays put, and even gives a little heat protection to nearby delicate areas. Just keep in mind—it’s not a heat shield for stones. It won’t crumble under the torch, though it can get a little burnt if you hit it directly with flame.
You can reuse it 2–3 times by reconstituting it in warm water. Once everything’s cool, just break the clay off. Any tiny bits left behind wash off easily with soap, water, and a toothbrush. Still-soft pieces can go right back in the jar, and even dried bits can be saved and reconstituted later.
I’ve personally been using this soldering clay for YEARS, and our Metalsmith Society community has shared so many clever ways to use it—holding prongs, tricky-shaped components—you name it. Honestly, it feels like sorcery. ✨
⚠️ Important note: This is NOT for use with platinum or platinum group metals. They don’t play nice with carbon, and this clay produces carbon. So avoid it with platinum, palladium, alloys containing platinum/palladium, rhodium, or iridium.
- Does not contain asbestos or other harmful additives.
- Contains aluminum oxide, silica and water.
- It does burn with prolonged intense heat and produces carbon.
- 8oz jar with approximately 6oz of clay.
- Made in USA
- Clay is Re-useable up to 3 times
PLEASE NOTE: Jar must be kept closed TIGHTLY with inner SEAL intact. Do not throw away self sealing lid liner. It needs to stay closed when not in use to keep the clay from drying out. The clay is EARTH made so natural microbes exist in the clay. A mildew smell or minor molding may occur because of the moisture content and a natural ingredient base.
